5/3/2024: Survivor Dinner
This year's H2R CPA annual tax season survivor dinner was held at the beautiful PNC Park where we enjoyed excellent weather while watching the Pittsburgh Pirates. It was a nice evening of delicious food and good conversation, while coming together with our fellow team members to celebrate another successful tax season.
4/25/2024: Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day
The colorful pages hanging on the reception area wall at H2R CPA are a happy reminder of the kids who joined us for Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. Several children of team members joined us at the office to learn more about their parents' careers, what they do and where they work. It was a fun day of activities, games, lunch and an ice cream sundae bar for dessert. Thanks to everyone who participated!
01/04/2024: H2R CPA Announces Merger
H2R CPA announces that Exler & Company, Inc. merged with H2R CPA effective January 1, 2024, to expand and enhance the professional services of the two Firms. H2R CPA will remain an independent, locally managed regional CPA firm serving closely held businesses and their owners, with expanded service offerings and additional resources that will help to fuel continued growth. The staff of Exler & Company, Inc. will be joining H2R CPA, and Mark R. Exler, William (Bill) H. Westland, Jr., and Steven M. Gregory will be Partners at H2R CPA. The merger will enable the highest level of quality service to the Firm’s clients and a continued rewarding professional experience for the Firm’s staff.

12/15/2023: Holiday Party
The H2R CPA team enjoyed gathering together for our holiday party at Topgolf in December. It was nice to socialize with fellow team members while enjoying an excellent lunch, exciting door prizes and a fun game of golf!
11/30/2023: H2R CPA Announces New Partner
H2R CPA announced that Nathan Shaffer, CPA, joined the firm as Accounting & Assurance Partner effective November 1, 2023. With nearly 20 years of public accounting experience at regional and national firms, Nate brings a wealth of knowledge and valuable perspective as part of H2R CPA’s new generation of leadership.

11/3/2023: Team Building
This year's annual H2R CPA team building event was held at Painting with a Twist in Robinson Township, where our team enjoyed a quick lunch, then got to work painting a bright Pittsburgh sunset. We had fun comparing our masterpieces, with a couple of prize winners in the group!
8/11/2023: Summer Social
It was a beautiful summer day in August as we gathered for our annual H2R CPA Summer Social at Settler's Cabin Park in the Moccasin pavilion. The menu included yummy sandwiches and hot dogs from the Burgh Bites food truck and a refreshing ice cream dessert from Bruster's. We watched and played games of Cornhole and Kubb, and enjoyed good conversation with our fellow team members. Everyone seemed to enjoy a relaxing afternoon away from the office!
4/28/2023: Survivor Dinner
The H2R CPA team and guests recently celebrated the end of busy season during the firm's annual "Tax Season Survivor Dinner". This year's event was held at the innovative Pittsburgh Glass Center with delicious food provided by Common Plea Catering. Everyone had the opportunity to try their hand at making a glass art project, which was fun to try as well as entertaining to watch!
12/13/2022: H2R CPA Announces New Partner
H2R CPA announced that Phillip D. Zlokas, CPA, has been promoted to Tax Partner effective January 1, 2023. As partner, Phil will be an integral member of the firm’s new generation of leadership, working together to chart an innovative course for the firm’s future as part of a comprehensive succession plan.

The H2R CPA team enjoyed a sunny afternoon for our holiday party at Topgolf. It is always a good time with delicious food, exciting door prizes and a competitive game of golf!
11/4/2022: Team Building
The annual H2R CPA team building event was held in early November at Paradise Island Bowl and Beach. Everyone enjoyed a nice spread of food and some friendly competition on the lanes.
9/19/2022: H2R CPA Announces New Managing Partner
H2R CPA announced that Kieran O’Dea, CPA, will assume the role of Managing Partner effective January 1, 2023. Paul K. Rudoy, CPA/PFS, will remain at the firm as a tax partner and advisor following the transition. Kieran O’Dea will be the sixth Managing Partner in firm history, representing the fourth generation of firm leadership.

7/15/2022: Summer Social
H2R CPA team members enjoyed a summertime break during our Summer Social at Settlers Cabin Park on Friday afternoon. We were joined by the Totopo Cocina & Cantina food truck for an excellent Mexican lunch and Bruster's Real Ice Cream for a yummy dessert! A competitive game of Kubb was entertaining for the players and spectators alike, but no one was keeping score!
2/23/2022: Steven M. Dotterer Promoted to Director, Business Valuation & Litigation Support
H2R CPA announced that Steven M. Dotterer, JD, MBA, CVA, was promoted to Director, Business Valuation & Litigation Support, effective January 1, 2022. In his new role, Steve oversees the day-to-day operations of H2R CPA’s Business Valuation & Litigation Support department. He will continue working closely with Alex M. Kindler, CPA/ ABV/ CFF/ PFS, CVA, MBA, Partner, to ensure the highest level of quality client service.

1/10/2022: Sara Beauseigneur Promoted to Audit Director, Employee Benefit Plans
H2R CPA announced that Sara Beauseigneur, CPA, MBA, was promoted to Audit Director, Employee Benefit Plans, effective January 1, 2022. In her new role, Sara will manage all of the firm’s Employee Benefit Plan client services, including audits, accounting and compliance. She will work closely in conjunction with H2R CPA’s Accounting & Assurance partners to ensure the highest level of quality client service.

H2R CPA Partner, Cara M. Colavita, CPA, recently shared her insights as one of Pittsburgh Business Times 20 People to Know in Accounting, a series which profiles “influential businesspeople working in key industries” and provides “an introduction to some of the behind-the-scenes players, key leaders and up-and-comers.”
In the Q & A interview, Cara discusses how the accounting industry has been affected by the pandemic, ways the accounting profession should be positioned to young people, what the accounting industry can do to improve diversity, her most memorable accounting issue to resolve, her challenges as a woman in a leadership role, and more.
