H2R CPA is looking for a Senior Tax Leader, coming into the firm as either a Director or Non-Equity Partner, with a clear path to Partner, within our growing Tax Department. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated continued progress and growth over his/her career within the public accounting space, the ability to manage multiple engagements across multiple tax domain areas, the ability to provide superior and strategic client service, perform tax research, solve complex tax problems, and the willingness and ability to coach the next-gen leaders within the tax department of our firm.
This is a leadership position that will have the opportunity to influence the strategic direction and trajectory of H2R’s future as a firm. This role will be responsible for acting as a service line leader and subject matter expert in relevant specialty business areas that fit within the H2R book of business and playing a vital role in the succession planning of the firm.

Essential Functions:
- Responsible for client service and client relations on designated accounts with a white glove level of service.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert within 1-2 tax practice areas.
- Transition existing H2R clients to your book of business as part of succession planning strategy from retiring Partners and leaders within the firm.
- Complete final reviews for deliverables that leave the firm in your specialty area.
- Provide tax consulting support and tax planning to clients as needed at a level of elevated expertise.
- Supervise and develop tax team members by providing regular feedback, coaching and progress evaluations on client engagements.
- Develop new client contacts and relationships beneficial to the firm that drives new business generation.
- Provide strategic input to further H2R growth and new service offerings.
- Complete technical reviews of tax returns and lead top tier client relationships and/or special projects.
- Meet billable hour goal of 1,300-1,400 hours annually.
- Develop proposals for new clients in partnership with other firm leaders.
- Provide input on tax department budgets.
- Partner with Head of BD to build detailed personal marketing plan.
Experience/Role Requirements:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience with progressive tax accounting duties and roles required.
- Minimum of 5 years in a manager-level role or higher required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or another relevant domain required. CPA license required. Advanced education preferred.
- Prior leadership experience in a professional services and/or public accounting environment required.
- Proven track record of delivering excellent client service across key firm accounts required.
- Specialized expertise in 1-2 areas of tax accounting highly preferred.
- Prior experience working with CCH/Axcess products highly preferred.
- Experience and expertise in tax research software highly preferred.
